What different types of panels are available?
There are three different styles of panels available for black composite fences. These include post-to-post, post-to-rail, and rail only. A post-to-post panel is the most traditional style with posts at either end that hold up a vertical member which attaches to horizontal rails on the top of the panel. Post-to-rail panels are similar in that they also have posts at either end, but instead of a vertical member, a horizontal rail is attach to the top of the panel. Rail only panels consist solely of rails without any posts or other attachments. Rail only panels provide less structural support than post-to-post or post-to whichever style you choose, so they’re typically use on shorter fences or as decorative fencing between flowerbeds.
What styles can I choose from?
A variety of styles are available, including black aluminum railings, black aluminum picket fences, black aluminum post & rail fences and black aluminum panel fences. Aluminum is durable, easy to maintain and doesn’t conduct heat or electricity.

How much do composite fence panels cost?
At a recent company picnic, I was introduce to black composite fence panels. I had never heard of them before and was very intrigue. They have all the benefits of wood boards without any of the potential downsides (rotting, warping, insect infestation). What struck me as strange though was that it cost about two dollars more per panel than traditional fencing materials. This is probably because you need fewer boards to make up a panel- most composites come in 4’x8′ sheets so you will end up with one less board than you would if you were using regular hardwood boards. That being say, it still seem like a good value for what you are getting.
Do they require maintenance or special tools?
Composite is resistant to damage from UV rays, moisture, insects, rot and mildew. It doesn’t require any special maintenance like painting or staining, so it can last for decades without showing much wear. However, if you live in an area where ice storms are common during the winter months, you might want to invest in a metal post sleeve that will protect the wood’s connection with the ground. As with other fencing materials, you’ll need special tools to cut through the composite material. You’ll also need a drill to attach anything that needs extra stability such as gates or other components.
