How to Draw A Shoe Easily

How to Draw A Shoe. The shoe is one of those objects that you might think would be foolproof to draw. After all, we see them daily when we set them up, so how hard could that be?

Also, check our frog color sheet.

You might be surprised how complicated it can be when you sit down to do it, and that’s something many artists have found out the hard way.

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to draw a shoe, this guide is for you!

We’ve created this step-by-step guide on how to draw a shoe in just 6 easy steps to make it easier than ever!

How to Draw A Shoe

Step 1

While it can be difficult to sit down and draw a shoe from memory if you try, there are certain elements we can all agree on for the structure that is the standard for all shoes. We will draw a sneaker in this guide, meaning it will have an almost flat base.

You can use a ruler to draw a horizontal line. Towards the end of the line, you should start curling it up, gradually at first and then more abruptly. You can finish the base with a slightly curved line on the back, as seen in the picture.

Step 2

We’ll add a pattern for this second step of designing your shoe.

This part may be tricky initially, so I recommend drawing with a pencil and reviewing it later with a pen.

We will do this step slowly as there are many different elements. Starting from the back of the shoe, draw a curved vertical line.

You can then draw a horizontal line that falls steeply down the middle to form the shoe’s opening.

From there, you can draw a curved line from the front of the shoe base. Once in, I would use a pencil to draw a line between the end of that line and the end of the shoe opening.

Using this pencil line as a guide, you can draw the sloped front of the shoe and make some indentations for the laces.

Please take your time with this step and follow the reference image closely. I know you can do it!

Step 3

You can now pull the laces using the jagged indentations you made in the shoe’s incline.

These may look complicated, but if you look closely at the image, you’ll see they’re made up of pretty simple shapes.

You can draw the laces with curved lines and then use some circular shapes for the metal circles.

Once they’re in, you can finish off the lace section of your shoe design with straighter lines around them.

Step 4

The previous steps in How to Draw a Shoe were complicated, but the final steps are about adding some details!

First, draw a horizontal line along the bottom of the shoe to create the base. Then add a curved line near the front, as seen in the reference image.

Step 5

Your shoe design is almost done! The hard parts are over, so adding some fun details is time.

With some curved lines, you can add the details we show in our picture, but don’t be afraid to add some of your own!

You can even design accessories like buttons, stickers, and other fun patterns to make your shoes stand out!

If you own such sneakers in real life, try to make them look like your shoe!

Step 6

With these final details, you have completed your mission of learning how to draw a shoe!

You should be proud of this achievement, but your shoe design only needs one more step to complete, and it’s fun!

For this step, let your creativity run free and dye your shoe in all your favorite colors.

We have shown only one way to colorize the image, but the possibilities are endless!

You can replicate your favorite shoe brand, make it look like your shoe in real life, or bring out the stylist in you as you create your design!

Using this image on some beautiful art media would also be fun.

You can use paints and crayons or pencils, but you can also use fun crafts like beads or stickers.

Your Shoe Drawing is Finished!
