Jessica Fulk’s Unfiltered Take: KC’s Boom is Making Me Lose My Mind (But Like, in a Good Way?)

From Fancy Schmancy Houses to New Restaurants Leawood That I Can’t Even Get Into

Okay, look. It’s been a day. A freaking day. You wanna know what’s going on in KC? Grab a drink. I need one too.

Houses Everywhere and I’m Losing It

So, this housing market, right? It’s… I don’t even know anymore. Had this client today, I swear… calls me up, all excited. “Jessica, what’s the deal with duplexes?” I’m like, seriously? Again? I’ve explained the what’s the difference between duplex and townhouse thing like a million times this week. I’m this close to making a PowerPoint presentation. Or maybe interpretive dance. Might be more effective at this point. And the traffic? Don’t even get me started. Took me an hour to get across town today. An hour! I could’ve watched half a Netflix show in that time.

Food Scene’s Blowing Up (And So Is My Patience)

Oh, and these new KC restaurants? They’re great. If you can get in. Tried to grab dinner at that new place in Leawood last night. They laughed at me. Literally laughed. Apparently, you need to book a table before the restaurant even exists now.

It’s Not All Bad, I Guess

Look, I’m not saying KC’s growth is terrible. It’s just… a lot. You know? Like, have you been to North Kansas City breweries lately? It’s insane. In a good way. I mean, when did we get so many beer options? Not that I’m complaining. After the week I’ve had, I might sample all of them. Don’t judge me.

Neighborhoods Are Like, Unrecognizable

And don’t even get me started on Hospital Hill Kansas City. Went there yesterday for a showing. Got lost. In an area I’ve known for years. It’s like the whole place got a facelift while I was sleeping or something. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just tired. Or hungry. Or both. Is it too late to order pizza? Anyway, if you need me, I’ll be here. Drowning in property listings and trying to figure out how to clone myself to keep up with this city. Or maybe I’ll just take a nap. Yeah, a nap sounds good. Wait, what was I talking about again? Oh, right. KC’s growing. It’s crazy. I’m crazy. We’re all crazy. But hey, at least the BBQ’s still good, right? Right?? I need sleep. Or coffee. Or both. Is that a thing? Coffee-flavored sleep? Someone should invent that.
