The greatest PSVR 2 games to play while standing necessitate a vast playing area, but they do an excellent job of demonstrating what VR is all about.
Virtual reality has gone a long way in a short period of time, with the Oculus Rift kicking off an unprecedented period of growth for the technology. When compared to some of the medium’s early offerings, the PSVR 2 and other modern VR headsets are far more immersive, with a fantastic and ever-growing library of games just waiting to be discovered.
One of the best aspects of the PSVR 2 is the versatility it provides, with users able to select whether to sit or stand while playing. Some games, on the other hand, are much better suited to one or the other, with a select few only playable while sitting or standing. The greatest PSVR 2 games to play while standing up necessitate a vast playing area, but they do an excellent job of demonstrating what VR is truly capable of.
Les Mills Bodycombat
Developer | Odders Lab |

Publisher | Odders Lab |
Release Date | February 22, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 78 |
Fitness games have grown in popularity in recent years, so it’s not surprise that one was introduced alongside the PSVR 2. Les Mills Bodycombat is a unique game in many aspects, especially when it comes to the tutorials. Nonetheless, there is no denying that the game does exactly what it claims, with some of the workouts being surprisingly effective.
Those looking to get in shape with their PSVR 2 headsets can do so here, with a wide range of exercises available. However, Les Mills Bodycombat is one of only eight PSVR 2 launch titles that can only be played while standing, so those hoping for a seated workout will have to look elsewhere.
Horizon Call of the Mountain
Developer | Guerrilla Games & Firesprite |
---|---|
Publisher | Sony Interactive Entertainment |
Release Date | February 22, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 79 |
Though the playable character is seated at times in Horizon Call of the Mountain, the majority of the game is spent on their own two feet, with mobility being crucial when it comes to controls. Players will need to move their arms for almost everything, including walking, jumping, and climbing, as well as launching arrows at aggressive machines or warning beacons.
Horizon Call of the Mountain is one of those games that every PSVR 2 owner should play at least once, if only to get a sense of what future PSVR 2 titles might be capable of with Sony’s cutting-edge hardware. But it’s much more than a glorified tech demo, with both the gameplay and the story being highly enjoyable in their own right.
Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition
Developer | Survios |
---|---|
Publisher | Survios |
Release Date | April 4, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 80 |
When compared to some of the other great games on the PSVR 2, the graphics in Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition may appear a little cartoony, but most players won’t have time to notice this as they are bobbing and weaving to avoid being hit. They’ll need to work on attack as well as defense, with the game doing an excellent job of teaching players all of the fundamentals.
Creed: Rise to Glory emphasizes mobility more than most games on the platform, making it an excellent way to stay active. This, however, implies that players will require a significant amount of room surrounding them, and being able to move freely within this space will result in a far more gratifying experience. Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition, like many of the finest standing games for the PSVR 2, theoretically supports sitting down, but it’s far from the optimal way to play.
Pavlov
Developer | Vankrupt Games |
---|---|
Publisher | Vankrupt Games |
Release Date | February 22, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 87 |
There are a few good multiplayer FPS games for the PSVR 2, but none are as entertaining as Pavlov. The game looks and performs great, with the PSVR 2 outperforming some high-end gaming systems in terms of overall clarity and frames per second. Pavlov also has a strong social component, with many players using it as a hub to meet up with their VR buddies.
Although Pavlov technically supports seated play, it is clear that the game was designed with standing in mind. This is most noticeable when it comes to crouching, since players must actually bend their knees to accomplish the move due to the lack of a dedicated crouch button. Older gamers with hurting joints may not appreciate it as much, but most will love the added immersion that crouching provides.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Tourist Edition
Developer | Skydance Interactive & Skybound Games |
---|---|
Publisher | Skydance Interactive |
Release Date | March 21, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 81 |
Players will be reaching around a lot when playing The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Tourist Edition, thanks to a backpack for inventory management and specific slots for primary and secondary weapons and ammo. Certain melee weapons, such as knives and axes, necessitate swinging or stabbing motions, which don’t always work well while sitting in a chair, especially if the chair has armrests attached to it.
As a result, most people will undoubtedly find that standing is far more fun. Especially while playing the game in short spurts. This is a good thing, because with each in-game day lasting about ten minutes. Players have lots of plausible stopping spots to choose from throughout their playing. However, the gameplay is extremely addictive, and most players will likely find themselves playing for days at a time without realizing how much time has passed.
Resident Evil Village
Developer | Capcom |
---|---|
Publisher | Capcom |
Release Date | May 7, 2021 |
Metacritic Rating | 84 |
The Resident Evil franchise has evolved significantly since its inception in the mid-1990s. Some of the series’ more recent installments play more like action-adventure games than classic survival horror, but Resident Evil Village can be just as horrific as its genre-defining predecessors, if not more so.
Playing Spacebar Clicker game in virtual reality is a tremendous treat, however it might be best avoided by the faint of heart. Some of the creatures that players will face are very terrifying. And the extra immersion afforded by the PSVR 2 takes things to a whole new level. It’s clearly better played standing up, but it can also be enjoyed sitting down.
Pistol Whip
Developer | Cloudhead Games |
---|---|
Publisher | Cloudhead Games |
Release Date | February 22, 2023 |
Metacritic Rating | 90 |
Though Pistol Whip can be played while sitting down by disabling obstacles and adjusting a few other settings, it’s a game that’s best enjoyed standing up. It’s considerably easier to be in step with the music when standing. And dodging bullets with a simple pivot is far less physically demanding than constantly turning one’s head.
However, regardless of which playstyle they choose, players are likely to have a good time. The high-octane gameplay is exhilarating, and the sense of successfully dodging obstacles or taking down an enemy who appears out of nowhere is unlike anything else on the platform. Pistol Whip is not only one of the best PSVR 2 games to play while standing. But it is also one of the best games on the platform in general.
