These spells may make players in Hogwarts Legacy scoff, but they are far more powerful than they appear.
There are over thirty spells in Hogwarts Legacy, including spells that cannot be equipped, like as Alohomora and Petrificus Totalus, and naturally, some appear stronger than others, which are frequently forgotten about or underutilized.
Some of the most potent forms of magic, though often neglected, are not intended for fighting at all. Every spell has a role in Hogwarts Legacy, from those employed solely in the Room of Requirement to those essential to solving the castle’s and beyond’s countless mysteries.
Imperio
In terms of power, the Imperius Curse is generally neglected among the three Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy and existing Harry Potter lore. This is due to the fact that, unlike the other two curses, it does not do direct damage.
However, if players can identify the single most powerful opponent in a fight. And apply the Imperius Curse to them, the tide of battle can quickly shift in their favor. Using the formidable foe as a stooge, the two of them can eliminate the rest to level the playing field for the penultimate combat.
Revelio
Non-combat spells like Revelio are rarely mentioned when strong and overpowered spells are discussed in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite being underappreciated by most, Revelio is one of the most useful spells in Slope Game.
Revelio can be useful whether the player is on a quest or merely free-roaming. Revelio shows aggressive opponents, hidden items, and hidden exits. It highlights which things can be interacted with. Ưhich is immensely helpful while solving Hogwarts Legacy’s most difficult challenges. By disclosing chests, Revelio can also ensure that no loot is lost.
Depulso
Depulso, often known as the Banishing Charm, is one of the most underappreciated spells in Hogwarts Legacy. Due to its low damage output when compared to the finest offensive spells. However, if players utilize Depulso wisely, it can be a strong situational spell. If foes are near the brink of a cliff. For example, a well-timed Depulso cast will send them plunging to their doom.
Depulso is also an excellent defensive spell, useful for clearing space when surrounded by numerous adversaries at once; this is especially effective when combined with the Depulso Mastery Talent. Furthermore, thanks to renowned Depulso master Herodiana Byrne. Hogwarts has some Depulso puzzle rooms that showcase the strength and inventiveness of the Banishing Charm.
Lumos
Lumos is one of the most recognizable spells in the wizarding world. And its equally iconic sound effect has been faithfully recreated in the Harry Potter films. Despite its brilliance, Lumos is one of the most underappreciated spells in Hogwarts Legacy.
In reality, Lumos is just as useful as other spells and is especially beneficial on quests and puzzles. Lumos can also be used to repel Devil’s Snare while players walk through it, and is a better option in such cases than Incendio or Confringo. Furthermore, by lighting the tip of their wand. Players can reveal secrets such as those found in the Werewolf Tapestry Room.
Basic Cast
While not exactly canon lore, the Basic Cast is an extremely underrated spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Weaving in Basic Casts between other spells is taught as a fundamental feature early on in the game during Crossed Wands dueling practice, but many players quickly forget about it.
Basic Casts have no cooldown and do more damage on top of previously applied spells. Certain Talents, however, such as Basic Cast Mastery and Basic Cast Airborne Absorption, make this spell even more helpful by reducing the cooldowns of other spells and filling up the Ancient Magic Meter when striking airborne enemies.
Petrificus Totalus
Petrificus Totalus is one of the few spells in Hogwarts Legacy that can one-shot most adversaries, but it frequently goes unnoticed. In Hogwarts Legacy, the Full Body-Bind Curse, which was most famously employed by Hermione on Neville Longbottom in the first book and film, can only be used when invisible.
Once adversaries are tied, they are done for. And they will vanish before they have a chance to fight back. This underestimated spell can even bind many opponents at once. Ưhen improved with the Stealth Talent, Petrificus Totalus Mastery.
Protego
Protego, the Shield Charm, is essential in the fight of Hogwarts Legacy. But while its protective powers are acknowledged, its offensive power is frequently neglected. First and foremost, when a flawless Protego is achieved. Blocking an incoming projectile, the player will cast Stupefy.
In addition, three of the greatest Talents in Hogwarts Legacy, found in the Core tree, increase Protego’s power. These are Protego Absorption, which replenishes the Ancient Magic Meter, Protego Expertise, which launches two projectiles at foes after a flawless Protego, and Protego Mastery, which launches a destructive blast that breaks shields.
Hogwarts Legacy is currently available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions arriving on April 4 and a Switch release on July 25.
